How does it work?

Often when it comes to hiring your first employee it can be hard knowing where to start. We offer a 6-week HR Readiness service to business owners and managers that are looking to hire their first employee or ensure they have key documentation in place to support their journey as an employer. Over the 6 weeks we will focus on three key areas:

  1. Kaimahi Hou | Employment

  2. Pūnaha | Policies & Procedures

  3. Kaimahi Whakahāpai | Professional Development

Through 1 hour weekly one-on-one coaching sessions we will review what you currently have in place and what you need moving forward. Some of the key things you can expect to gain a better understanding of includes:

  • What your legal obligations are as an employer. 

  • Understanding and implementation of key documentation required throughout the hiring process such as job descriptions, individual employment agreements, letter of offer, tax forms, kiwisaver forms etc.

  • What payroll is and how to set this up with an accountant or payroll app. 

  • Key policies and procedures required and their importance such as an employee handbook, conflict of interest, health and safety, travel, flexible working etc.

  • What standard operating procedures are and how to formulate these for internal use.

  • How to support new employees through milestones, work plans, mentorship, performance reviews and professional development.
